A Brief History of the Scottish Heavyweight Championship

In June this year we started off a new era of SWA with the ‘New testament’ double header, with the first night seeing a change of the guard as British wrestling veteran Whiplash took home the Scottish Heavyweight Championship in only his second appearance for SWA by countering Andy Anderson’s double-knee smash and forcing the young star to tap out. With Whiplash becoming the latest man to hold the title, we’ve taken a quick look at the history of the championship.

Six of the Best: Volume 20

It’s been a huge couple of weeks, as you all know. Who could see it coming? Kat and Alfie Moon starting to get back together as Phil Mitchel returns to ruin the life of his aunt Glenda. Steve McDonald admits to stealing Dev’s money, trying to cover up his wife Becky’s crimes. Daniel Meade from Ugly Betty becoming a star in British science fiction. Lybia fell into chaos, and so did the Old Firm. But worst of all… Scott Renwick was screwed out of the NWA Scottish Championship.

The Final Countdown Begins; More announced for the Gathering

During the NWA British Heavyweight tournament, both Moss and Gunn stormed their way through racking up wins at every stage and soon enough they caught each others attention. Moss declared war on Gunn when he decided to challenge him in the quarter finals but despite attempting to destroy each other the two have yet to battle each other in an SWA ring. Moss has demanded that this be rectified and wants to face Gunn on the biggest stage in Scottish wrestling; The Gathering!

Six of the Best: Volume 17

It’s been a hell of a year for SWA and throughout we’ve seen tremendous performances form the old guard of SWA, as well as the new breed and have been on the edge of our seats as Eric Canyon tried to take Scott Renwick’s title, SWA Source became one of the most exciting shows in Scotland, the Laird of the Ring and T-Division titles were elevated through outstanding matches form their champions and challengers, and while people ensured their place for The Gathering in 2011, the new breed punched a hole for them to fly through and take the spotlight.
