Source Wrestling opens 2012 with a showcase of new talent on Jan 28th in Bridgeton

What’s that old line about the best laid plans? As some may have read in an earlier post, the plan for January 28th has had a change due to the huge demand for Source talent (which we can’t help but feel a little smug about!) so when we found out two of our semi-finalists were out of action, including CJ Hunter who is currently rehabbing a knee injury (insert Skyrim gag here), I decided that there was only one way to open up 2012 in style!
Over the past year Source Wrestling has been supported and advanced by the talent that is coming through from the Source Wrestling School and without them we would be dead in the water. So while our second event of the year will now be the time to put that title in the picture above around someone’s waist, this upcoming show in Bridgeton Community Centre will be an opportunity for the younger members of the roster to showcase their skills and make their first steps towards challenging for the title once a champion has been named!
So far I can confirm that former SWA Tag Team Champion Black Samurai Junior will be taking on the strange and craft Charles William Yum in what’s sure to be a fast paced and high flying match up! Junior is known for his quick feet and risk taking style, a style that helped him win the tag titles with Falcon at the Gathering’s chaotic ladder match in 2011. His opponent, Yum, has been a huge surprise to us in the past year having matches with Joe Coffey for the Laird of the Ring title in Source as well as gaining his first win when he stole a victory from temporary tag partner John Graham in November. When these two cruiser weights collide, I expect both men to surprise all of us!
The unlikely alliance of Christopher Saynt and Lewis Girvan have asked to come together, taking full advantage of the nights showcase theme. the culture clash between Saynt’s well groomed nature and Girvan’s grungy edge will make an interesting one as they’ve made a challenge to the 2011 Graduate Bobby Roberts, who made his debut in November to a huge reaction in Beith! With a roster full of people to choose from, who will Roberts pick as he answers the challenge of the Source stars?
We’ll also see 2011′s shining breakouts Tommy Daniels and Axl Simmons, both of whom have grown significantly in 2011, as well as the Forsaken’s James St James and Jam O’Malley in attendance as well as SWA Star and former Scottish Heavyweight Champion Eric Canyon in action! After being stripped of all power in SWA, he’s looking to throw his weight around elsewhere and so I’ll be putting him against one of my roster so they can remind him he has no sway in the land of Source!
Stay tuned for more updates and remember not to miss out as we open the year in Bridgeton Community Centre, January 28th from 6.30pm!
