Source Wrestling opens 2012 with a showcase of new talent on Jan 28th in Bridgeton

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

What’s that old line about the best laid plans? As some may have read in an earlier post, the plan for January 28th has had a change due to the huge demand for Source talent (which we can’t help but feel a little smug about!) so when we found out two of our semi-finalists were out of action, including CJ Hunter who is currently rehabbing a knee injury (insert Skyrim gag here), I decided that there was only one way to open up 2012 in style!

Over the past year Source Wrestling has been supported and advanced by the talent that is coming through from the Source Wrestling School and without them we would be dead in the water. So while our second event of the year will now be the time to put that title in the picture above around someone’s waist, this upcoming show in Bridgeton Community Centre will be an opportunity for the younger members of the roster to showcase their skills and make their first steps towards challenging for the title once a champion has been named!

So far I can confirm that former SWA Tag Team Champion Black Samurai Junior will be taking on the strange and craft Charles William Yum in what’s sure to be a fast paced and high flying match up! Junior is known for his quick feet and risk taking style, a style that helped him win the tag titles with Falcon at the Gathering’s chaotic ladder match in 2011. His opponent, Yum, has been a huge surprise to us in the past year having matches with Joe Coffey for the Laird of the Ring title in Source as well as gaining his first win when he stole a victory from temporary tag partner John Graham in November. When these two cruiser weights collide, I expect both men to surprise all of us!

Matters Of Maverick Nature: Pride in the New Year

Wednesday, December 28th, 2011

Hey Guys,

Christopher Saynt here hoping that you all had a wonderful Christmas with your friends and family. To me Christmas is always a time for Family, Presents and of course and probably most important…Christmas Dinner but thats all over the Christmas Tree is down and the Dancing Santa has lost it’s charm we look towards the New Year or as it is better known Hogmany.
Every Year is a huge party with fireworks and Steak Pie (Yeah I like food..) but we also have other traditions at the New Year. Traditions like the one my mother always does when she opens the front door to let in the New Year and opens the back door to let out the Old Year..I know It’s weird but she’s happy so we let her get on with it.
My Favourite tradition at the New Year is making New Years Resolutions, So with my new blogging powers i decided to go around the Source locker room and asked what some of the guys and girls New Years Resolutions were.

Here are just a few that I got:

Lewis Girvan – My New Years Resolution is too make an impact in Source and SWA and to become the youngest champion in the companies history.

Rule 97; Enough is never enough.

I haven’t had the chance to write any blogs for a while, but since we’re in the seasonal break I figured it was time to stop being lazy and start typing. Although with the way things are going, I should maybe join the trend and make a video post next time. Until I make that giant leap into the 21st century, here’s some stuff on my mind with a hint of shameless plugging…

Forsaken
We’ve had an up and down year since banding together as our merry little group of misfits, I think it’s safe to say we’ve had more fun. It might have been at the expense of the Source roster but I’ve enjoyed it. I even got to kind of/almost be SWA Tag Team Champion for about an afternoon. Which I’m sure fits the rules the Originals set out as I fit the job description. And with all the fun came some reward as Dunbar didn’t just have a steller run as T-Division champ this year but has ended 2011 on a high by toppling Joe Coffey for the Laird. I think a huzzah is in order.

But with the good news comes the bad as, unfortunately due to his unstable mental health, the Laandstrom Institute has recalled Jamie Walker and won’t release him for any more Source events as he keeps trying to chokeslam other patients when he gets home. Which leaves us with a gap in our group which we’ll have to get together and chat about.

Pride of Scotland Championship; Revealed.

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

Throughout the latter half of 2011, the Source Wrestling roster has fought hard against each other as they’ve battled for the first Source-exclusive championship. But for all these months, the title itself has been a closely guarded secret. But as we approach our seasonal break before 2012 opens with the close of the tournament, I figured it was a little bit cruel to keep the belt hidden away from the fans (and the roster!).

A big thanks goes to Mr Zaheer at Ibrahim Sports for putting in the time and effort to create the belt. Now all it needs is a champion to hold it…

Now moving into the final stages of the tournament, we have CJ Hunter ready to battle Damo O’Conor in the semi-finals and Christopher Saynt (the recent surprise replacement for suspended Mark Anthony) go head to head against Scott Renwick. The winners of those semi-final bouts will join Dickie Divers in the final three-way match!
