Sourcelight; New Blood Rising.
The stars of Source have had a hectic time of late with the latest graduates from Area 52 making waves already! Last edition we talked about Lewis Girvin and his debut in the Battlezone. It seems in recent weeks he’s become a target for Eric Canyon, who has decided to pick on the rookie.
When Source headed back to Erskine Lewis found himself victimised by Canyon who forced him into the ring against the masked Machine. Despite the shock entry for the young man, he still managed to persevere and gain a pinfall over the powerful opponent to Canyon’s upset. When SWA headed to Govan, Lewis found himself working alongside the event team but despite that he still ended up in the ring! Quick to impress his dominance over the SWA roster, Canyon singled out Lewis again and ordered him to go backstage and prepare to be squashed.
When the time came to fight, Canyon headed to the ring with his latest recruit Mark Anthony, another Area 52 graduate Canyon had hand picked o be at his side. Together they gave Lewis five seconds to find a tag partner or be forced into a two-on-one fight. When things looked bleak, Joe Coffey – coming off a win over Black Samurai Jr in Erskine – made the save and jumped to Lewis’ side. With things a little more even, Canyon and Anthony gained a humiliating loss to the delight of the fans at ringside.
Having only entered the ring for the first time at Battlezone, Lewis is showing great potential in his early days and despite not being a crowd pleaser, Mark Anthony had an impressive debut after being hand picked by Canyon to be at his side. With high praise and congratulations by their trainers, we could very well see them advance quickly through the ranks of Soure much like Joe Coffey and others have in the past year.
In Uddingston we also saw Nathan Black and his new tag partner The Bomb explode into action once again, this time taking down BT Gunn and Falcon after their match. With another seemingly random attack from the pair making waves in SWA, what can we expect of the two down the line?
Needless to say, the Source stars are definitely making an impression.
The man championing Source has had his own run of success recently. T-Division Champion Ricky Gibson found himself headlining the Erskine event when he teamed up with Adam Shame to battle the disruptive combination of Glen Dunbar and Barry Miller.
As rising star Joe Coffey gained a win in the opening match over Black Samurai Junior, the young Japanese star found himself the victim of an attack from Barry Miller and Glen Dunbar. SWA T-Division Champion Ricky Gibson and Adam Shame quickly came to his aid and in the heat of the moment, challenges were laid down leading to a tag match main event!
Gibson and Shame were warmly welcomed to the ring by the fans in attendance as they faced Miller and Dunbar in the main event later in the evening. With Dunbars usual ring prowess and the strength and power of Bull, the challengers had their hands full! But Shame and Gibson persevered with the cheers and support from the crowd and turned the tables on the duo leading to a pinfall from the fan favourites.
Source will be returning to action soon with all your favourites. Keep your eyes on our events calendar for upcoming dates!
You may remember that last edition we ran a poll to find out who you wanted to be interviewed for Sourcelight and we can now reveal that the winner by a landslide is the NWA Scottish Heavyweight Champion, Scott ‘The Butcher’ Renwick. Renwick’s appearances for Source have given young rookies the chance to go toe-to-toe with one of SWA’s most popular champions and has given some valuable learning experiences to the younger ranks. Next time round, we’ll be asking Renwick a few questions about his title reign, his battle with Eric Canyon and his time with Source mixing with the younger talents of Area 52.
If you have anything you’d like us to ask the champ, submit your questions below!
