Star of the Moment; Lionheart

Our last trip to Uddingston saw another step forward towards the British Championship for one contender when he made his official entry into the tournament. When Lionheart stepped into the ring with Mike Musso, he felt confident that he would walk out with his placement in the next stage of the tournament secured and to the upset of Musso, he did. Now set to face Falcon in the next stage of the tournament, Lionheart has taken a big leap towards another title, one which could put him in the history books.

At the Gathering 2008, the main event of the night saw Wolfgang retain the title in a match that took everything out of him. Fighting against English contender Martin Stone, Wolfgang not only managed to retain his title but gain the last point to win in the England versus Scotland event. But as the crowd were on their fet in praise of his achievement, Lionheart came to the ring with his Money in the Bank title shot – allowing him to challenge for the title any time, any where – and pinned the champ for the belt. With a quick apology to his friend, Lionheart celebrated with Wolfgang after his sneaky title win.

Despite the fans getting on his side with Wolfgangs blessing, Lionhearts reign didn’t last long. When 2009 opened he found himself on the losing end of Adam Shame and despite his best efforts didn’t win back the title until defeating BT Gunn later in the year. With the title over his shoulder, Lionheart became cocky and arrogant, screwing Scott Renwick out of his Gathering title shot to ensure that he and Wolfgang would enter 2009 as the main event to give each other a fair shot after the previous years events.

As we all know, Renwick managed to turn the tables on them both by winning his own Money in the Bank shot that year and cashing it in to then win the title in the main event despite Lionhearts cunning plans. Since then Lionheart has challenged for the title on and off while touring the UK making his name as one of the UK’s finest.

Having worked for some of the UK’s most reputable promotions, held the top Scottish titles including two runs with the world recognised NWA Scottish Heavyweight Championship, become one of Scotland most decorated talents and been the only Scotsman to date to have had a shot at Ring of Honour’s Championship. Here in SWA he has been a higlight with his wins against BT Gunn, Micken, Adam Shame, The Pryor, Johnny Moss, Falcon, Dave Mastiff and more which has made him one of the toughest challengers to beat, as Mike Musso recently learned.

After his loss at the Gathering 2009, Lionheart has kept his head down in SWA but after the loss of the NWA Scottish title, he’s been determined to make his mark once again. After capturing the NWA Scottish title on two seperate occasions from Adam Shame and BT Gunn, his eyes are set on a fresh challenge; the NWA Britsh Championship.

Recognised by the American turned Worldwide orginisation, the NWA, the British title has been one of the most prestigious to have held. Made famous mostly by Gary Steele who became the first Brit to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the title is not only a hell of a prize to achieve, but is seen as a good luck charm.

With Lionheart following a new path, can we see him battle through and become the next NWA British Heavyweight Champion?
