Star of the Month; Mr Eric Canyon

Wednesday, February 1st, 2012

Perhaps an odd choice for Star of the Month considering what went down at Source Wrestling recently and that no one is more hate-able than ‘The Boss’, but hear us out…

Canyon has been rubbing people the wrong way for a very, very long time. Mainly due to his over-inflated ego and his doing whatever it took to get back the Scottish title. That desire led him to making a lot of enemies, gave him a tainted win and has ultimately set him on a self destructive downward spiral after he gave away his legal rights as the company’s owner in pursuit of the belt. But, in a moment of admiration, we have to tip our hat to Canyon for one thing; he’s good.

In the closing months of 2011 Canyon lost the Scottish title to Andy Anderson and his Money in the Bank cash in as well as lost the SWA tag Team Championship to John Graham and Nathan Black. His bad luck – or just deserts as we like to see it – has put him in the bad books of SWA showrunner PJ Murphy.

It’s been a great year for the stars of all brands of the Scottish Wrestling Alliance! After Hours has held a strong series of bouts and challenges, putting up regular SWA stars in against some of the best from all around the UK in an extreme wrestling environment, Source has been overflowing with talent shining through the ranks from the established roster as well as new faces from the Source Wrestling School and at it’s core, SWA’s events have shown several stars of the NuGeneration rise up, such as NWA Scottish champ Andy Anderson!

Star of the Month; NWA Scottish Champion Andy Anderson

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

In 2010′s Battlezone event we saw the birth of a star as one man managed to shine above all others to make it to the end of the match. After solidifying himself as one to watch, Andy Anderson took the opportunity for the Gathering slot and battled through every single man who entered the match only to be blind sighted by surprise entrant, Eric Canyon, losing by a hair. That night might not have been his time to excel into the main event, but he certainly proved he had what it takes.

More than a year later, Andy Anderson now stands proudly as the NWA’s Heavyweight Champion of Scotland.

Proving he was a highlight in his early career, Anderon managed to stand his ground againt the likes of veteran cruiserweight CJ Hunter, former Scottish Champion BT Gunn and several others as he continued to score successful victories and learn from the mistakes of his defeats while having matches that kept the crowd on their toes.
